Spring Bonnet Parade at Primrose

I'm so glad the boys have had the opportunity to be at Primrose. If they have to be in daycare, there is no place I'd rather them be then at Primrose. They have some of the best programming around. One of my favorite activities is the Spring Bonnet parade. Ken and I were both able to get away from work so we could watch Andrew in the parpade. We might be biased, but we think he was a pretty cute bunny! :-)

Cookout at Grammie and Grandpa's

A couple of weeks ago we had a cookout at Grammie and Grandpa's with all the extended family. It was the first time the boys had seen some of them since Christmas. It was beautiful weather and we had a cookout and cupcakes! We also had yummy s'mores over the fire as well. We had a great time and it was so nice to be able to see everyone!

Catching Up

I think I lost the month of February. It is honestly a blur. We've had so much go on since I last blogged anything. Here are the highlights...

1. Andrew turned 3 on January 25th! We had very fun party with friends from school and church at Monkey Joe's.
2. We celebrated the 100th day of school for Adam.
3. End of indoor soccer....
4. Valentine's Day and class parties at school.
5. Adam turned 6 on March 3rd! Wow! We had lots of fun at Bounce U for his birthday party.

In between all of this, Ken got a promotion at work. I've been traveling lots doing training across the state. It has meant lots of time on the road and away from home - not my favorite thing in the world.

Outdoor soccer practice starts this week and both Adam and Andrew will be playing at the church. It should be lots of fun!

Everytime I think things will slow down just a little, they just seem to speed up and go faster. I'm trying to remember to take time every day and enjoy my family. We're ready for a busy spring and looking forward to lots of fun things!

Snow, Snow and More Snow

We've certainly had our fair share of snow this year....and we're not even half way through winter yet. We had so much snow last week, that school was out last week. However, it wasn't really the snow that caused the schools to be closed - it was the ice. We had 4-5 inches of snow and then at least another 1/4 inch of ice on top of that. Every time anything tried to melt (not that it happened often), it would freeze over night. We had lots of good together time as a family and weren't able to leave the house. By Thursday, I did get out and go to work. Even with leaving at 10am, there were two lanes of 285 closed that were covered in 2-3 inches of ice. I had never seen anything like it. It is January 1, 2011. It is the day we typically choose our New Year's Resolutions. This year I decided to do something different. Instead of choosing resolutions that are often not kept, I wanted to choose one word to focus on. You can find more about this idea at http://myoneword.org/. My one word for 2011 is Focus.

I want to focus on my family - on being a better wife, a better mother and a better daughter.
I want to focus on my relationship with God.
I want to make sure I focus on the important things and not all the little things that always seem to require our attention.

I want to enjoy this year and take time to enjoy every moment. Life really does go by too fast and I don't want to miss anything!

2010 In Review......

I can’t believe that 2010 is already coming to an end. It seems like just yesterday we were anxiously approaching 2010. This year the boys turned 5 and 2. We took a trip to the beach during the spring, before the oil spill. It seemed to be one of the busiest years ever at work, with a layoff of 30+ employees at the end of April. The summer stayed busy and Adam loved going on field trips with school. The fall brought the start of kindergarten, a trip to Disney World, me finally singing in the choir at church, a few Alabama football games and many more good times. Then, before we knew it, it was Thanksgiving and then Christmas. This year I sang in the church Christmas cantata and it finally felt like Christmas again. As we ended our Christmas Eve service with the Hallelujah Chorus I couldn’t help but smile and think about Mrs. Burleson and the robed choir at Saks High School. Ken and I both took the week off between Christmas and New Year’s and it was one of the best decisions ever. We have had a wonderful week together as a family. 4th of July

Luckily, Friday was my holiday at work so I was able to see the kids 4th of July parade. It came a monsoon Friday morning, so they had to move it inside but they were so cute. I love that Primrose does so much of this stuff. It is so fun and the kids love it!

Vacation Bible School

I was extremely fortunate to take the week off again this summer to work at our Vacation Bible School. In a word, it is amazing what our church is able to do. We had 600 kids and 300+ volunteers. We use all the buildings on our campus and it is just unbelievable. I was so glad to be able to do this with Adam again this year. He has such a great time and I love sharing that with him (while he still likes for me to).

McWane Center

For the Memorial Day weekend, we went to my parent's house. On Sunday, we decided to go and check out the McWane Center since we had never been there. We had the best time. The kids loved it and it wasn't too boring for the adults either!

Soccer and more soccer

I was so proud of Adam for doing such a great job playing soccer this year. Two years made a lot of difference. I know some three year olds may really be into it, but Adam wasn't. This year, he had a great time. I'm sure it helped that his best buddy Tyler was on the team as well. Tyler is also one of the superstars on the team. :-) They had a great year. Pre-K Graduation - May 14th

I still can't believe Adam is finished with Pre-K and will be going to Kindergarten this fall. I'm not sure where the time has gone. Every day when I look at him, he is starting to look older to me. I guess that is part of growing up.

His Pre-K graduation ceremony was excellent! It is just one of the many things that Primrose does so well. The kids sang several songs and then presented each child with their diploma. I'd love to say I didn't cry, but that wouldn't exactly be true. I love my little graduate!!

April Beach Trip

I have one of those crazy holidays at work in April - Confederate Memorial Day. No one else gets it off, but I always have a Monday off in April. So this year, we decided to head for the gulf and visit Orange Beach for a few days. My dad was able to join us for part of the time. I'm so glad we went when we did considering all of the oil mess now. We had a great time, the weather was pretty nice (except for a bad storm that came through one day), and the boys enjoyed playing on the beach. I hope they are able to keep the oil contained and the beaches clean - my children love the beach and love the gulf area and I want them to be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

Easter

We had lots of fun at Easter egg hunts this year. The boys were so cute....we had hunts at their school and at church. I can firmly say that both of them truly understood the concept this year. :-)

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is always one of my favorite services. But, this one was very special because Adam helped bring in palm branches. He was so cute and did a great job! They sang after they came in with the palm branches. I love that we have all these great opportunities at our church!

Children's Museum PJ Party

Saturday night after the freezing cold soccer game, we went to the Children's Museum PJ party. We had such a good time. The kids went in their pj's, took their stuffed animals and had a couple of hours to play at the museum. The museum had food and snacks so we had a really great time. Needless to say the boys were wiped out when we got home.

Our first soccer game was Saturday and it was so cold!! Adam did a great job. He played the entire game and never came out. They don't keep score at this age and that is ok with us. He even played goalie some. I love that he is enjoying being and out and playing and it certainly helps that his friend Tyler is playing too.

The boys preschool had a spring bonnet parade in March. It was so much fun and the kids were so cute. I was so glad I could go into work late that day so I could see the parade. The boys had a great time. Andrew had on a "tie" and "boutenniere" and Adam was a watering can while the girls in his class were sunflowers. I was so glad it was such a pretty day!

Adam hasn't always going to choir...once he gets there he's fine. He just doesn't want to go. This was March 7th and his choir sang at our contemporary service. They were singing Thy Word. It really is fun to hear him singing it around the house. :-) Here's a few photos from the day.

Adam Turns Five

Time certain seems to fly. I can't believe Adam turned five on March 3rd. Wow! He is growing up and is such a fun child. He makes us laugh every day and is such a good big brother. He is so much fun and I can't thank God enough for giving us such a precious child.

We had his birthday at DAC Kids the last Saturday in February. We had several of his Primrose classmates at this party along with some our sweet Due West friends. And of course, Grammie and Grandpa came for the party as well. He loves being five. His new favorite pastime is Lego's and he loves them. He can't have enough of them.

Circus

We had some very sweet friends who gave us tickets to the circus. I had not been to a Ringling Brothers circus in years. The seats were really good and we had a great time. I had forgotten about things like the protesters standing outside and yes, we went the night a zebra got loose and was on the interstate in Atlanta! Oh well! It was an adventure and worth every minute of it.

Valentine's Day and SNOW!!

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the boys Valentine's Day parties at school. I was so glad that they staggered the start times so I could actually go to both of them. After the parties were over, I brought both the boys home early and had them take naps. Little did we know that by the time they woke up, we'd have snow on the ground. And, lots of snow on the ground. It was great because it snowed a lot on Friday, some was still on the ground on Saturday, but by Sunday, it was almost all gone. My favorite kind of snow is when it doesn't stay for very long!

Andrew Turns 2

Andrew turned 2 on January 25th. We had a family birthday party at my Mom and Dad's on the 23rd. We had a farm themed 2nd birthday and had a great time. Lots of food, great family and great cake. Who could ask for anything more?

Then on Andrew's actual birthday, we had our friends Mr. Spiff and Ms. Janet come over and have pizza and birthday cake with us.

I cannot believe that Andrew is already 2. I'm not sure where the past two years have gone. It really seems like just yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital. We love you Andrew and can't imagine our lives without you!

Georgia Aquarium

We finally made it back to the Georgia Aquarium. Adam had been begging to go for months and we loaded up and went. We had the best time! The boys had so much time exploring. We were a little sad that the Beluga Whales are off site right now while the dolphin exhibit is being built, but it just gives us a great excuse to go back!

Imagine It Children's Museum

On New Year's Day, Ken worked so I decided to load up the kids and try out Imagine It. It is the children's museum in Atlanta near the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke. The boys and I had a great time. They played for a solid three hours and would have stayed longer. We enjoyed it so much that we now have a family membership. I can't wait to take them back when Ken can go as well.

I still can't believe December is over.... I'm not sure where the month went. It seemed like before I knew it the month was over and it was January.

I think riding a train to the North Pole has quickly become a Baumhoff family tradition. In fact, we rode the very first ride of the season this year. We had so much fun. Even Andrew enjoyed it until Santa came around. When Santa appeared, he was done and didn't want any more to do with him. Adam on the other hand was a real champ. He sat in Santa's lap and told him exactly what he wanted. We've started to realize that this may be the year that Andrew will not have anything to do with Santa. Oh well!

If you are in the Chattanooga area and haven't done this ride on the Tennessee Valley Railroad you really are missing a treat. We love it and so do the boys!

Brothers - November 1, 2009

I love how much the boys are enjoying each other these days. There is an occasional disagreement when they want to play with the same thing, but it isn't anything that we can't handle. I love to hear them laughing and chasing each other. It is so much fun around our house these days.

Halloween 2009

October 30th was the boys last day at their new school. After Andrew being bitten multiple times we decided to move them back to Primrose. This was their last day at Discovery Point. Ken went for their Halloween party and the boys had a great time.

You would never know the boys moved schools. Adam and Andrew are so happy at their new school and not once have they asked about the old school. It really is quite interesting. They've just fallen back into the routine. We are so happy back at Primrose. We have very happy children who love being at school and are so happy when we pick them up. It really is a night and day difference.

It was a tough decision to move them to a different school, but in the long run we know that it was the right decision.

Petit Creek Farms - October 28, 2009

One of Adam's last activities before he changed schools, was going on a field trip to Petit Creek Farms. It's in Catersville which isn't too far from our house, but we had never been there. Luckily Ken was able to go with him. I think they both had a great time. It is such a neat place. I loved looking at the photos.

University of Alabama Homecoming - October 17, 2009

We had a great time at homecoming this year. Ken marched in the alumni band and they had a lot of people on the field. Hopefully one of these days they'll have more than are in the band. It's been a great year for Alabama football so far and we've had a great time watching and going to games. Homecoming is one of our favorites. I can't wait to take the boys one of these days!

Disney on Ice - October 15, 2009

I decided that Adam was old enough for us to have a date night. So, we decided to go to Disney on Ice at Phillips Arena. We had such a great time! I actually went ahead and paid for VIP seats and we were on the very front row, on the ice. Adam was so cute watching everything. He was a perfect little boy and I couldn't have asked for him to behave any better. I was a little nervous about taking him downtown all by myself, but we had a really good time. Of course, I'm such a big Disney fan that I think I had as much fun as he did!

Adam in Cherub Choir - October 11, 2009

Adam is singing in the Cherub Choir this year. I love it! I'm not so sure he does. Their first performance was on October 11th. I can't wait to see their Christmas performance. He is so cute and does such a good job, but he says all the people in the congregation scare him. I can understand that! :-)

Pumpkin Patch - October 9, 2009

One of my favorite things about our church is all the truly fun things they do. Each year we love going to the pumpkin patch. We've been going since Adam was little. This year he's big enough to help carry the pumpkin! :-) One day Adam started saying he wanted to go to the Pumpkin Patch and while we weren't exactly dressed for photos, we sure did have a great time!

Chic-fil-A Kickoff Classic - September 5, 2009

We were lucky enough for Alabama to play in Atlanta again for their opening game. Our seats this year were high in the Georgia Dome, but you could see the entire field and that was kind of neat. After we got to our seats, I never moved again. :-) It was pretty high up and steep. It was a great game and Alabama won! What a great way to start the season. We love Saturday's in the fall and college football.

Sips and Strokes - August 14, 2009

I had a great opportunity to meet up with one of my friends to go to Sips and Strokes. I'm really not sure painting is my thing, but it was a lot of fun. Christy and I have been friends for a very long time. We went to camp together, were pen pals for years, both of us have United Methodist preachers for fathers, and have kept in touch for years. It was so much fun to hang out with her and catch up. I've promised it won't be another 10+ years before we get together again.

First Day of School & Daddy's Birthday - August 10, 2009

The boys started their first day of school on August 10th at their new school. Even though I couldn't get them both to smile at the camera at the same time, it was a good day. We started with pancakes for breakfast and then off to school! It was also Daddy's birthday so we celebrated with chocolate cake that night!!

This year for work we sponsored a billboard in the outfield at the Rome Braves stadium. As part of the sponsorship, we had the opportunity to have a suite one night at a game. Due to really bad weather during the day, the only people that went were Ken, the kids and me. But we had a great time!! I hated that my colleagues at work missed it, but it sure was fun. We think we'll be headed up to Rome to watch a few more baseball games.

Bath Time

I love that the boys are at the point now that they like playing together. We began seeing this some this summer....in fact these photos are from July. I'm still trying to catch up!

Garden

This summer we decided to have a garden. We had more zucchini and tomatoes than we could eat. We learned an importnat lesson - no matter how much you like zucchini, you probably don't need 6-7 plants. :-)

Adam's favorite part were the sunflowers. I'm still amazed at how well they did. I think every bird in the neighborhood found them and had a ball with the seeds. Our deck still has sunflower seeds everywhere. Adam says he wants to plan lots more sunflowers next year. We'll have to see about that.

4th of July

For the 4th of July weekend, we loaded up and went to the beach. It was a last minute trip and I'm so glad we went. We stayed at Gulf Shores Plantation and it was the first time we had stayed there, but we had a fabulous time. Adam loves the beach! Andrew....not so much. He was perfectly happy to sit with me and watch everything, but he didn't want to be put in the sand and really didn't want to get too close to the water.

It was a great relaxing trip and Adam is already asking when he can go back!

It's the Simple Things in Life......

Aren't these the yummiest looking cupcakes! I read an article in the AJC about CamiCakes. So when I left a meeting at the Department of Education today, I decided to find Cami Cakes and get some yummy cupcakes, because after all, it is all about the simple things. These are just a few of their flavors. I'm glad it isn't too close to work or I'm afraid I'd be there all the time....above is Strawberries and Cream, Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Cup, Lemon Drop, Cinna Swirl and Classic Cami Cake. I can't wait to dive in later after little ones are in bed.

Yes, I know it has been two months since I've posted anything. That should tell you a lot about our lives right now. It's been a crazy two months and I hope I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but some days I begin to wonder.

I'll give some quick updates and be on the lookout for a photo recap of the past two months soon. Let's see....my job has just been crazy. We launched a new version of the GAcollege411 website at the end of July. Despite all the hours put in before hand and all the testing, things didn't go as well as anticipated. We are still working through some issues. But the site is incredible and we have received wonderful feedback from high schools and students and that it what it is all about. I've been traveling the site talking about the site and we kick off the training in September. I love my job and I love helping students realize that there is a way to go to college and to find the college that is the perfect fit for them. It is so rewarding but so very draining.

Ken is still job hunting. We're on month 4 now since he was let go from IBM. The market seems to be flooded. We are very fortunate and lucky on so many levels with how things happened, however I think we're all ready for him to take the plunge back in the job scene - especially Ken.

Adam is loving Pre-K. I think he misses some of his friends from church, but he sees a lot of them at Sunday school and I'm sure we'll see a few more when choir starts up in a few weeks. He seems to be learning lots and is always telling us about something from his day.

Andrew is also liking his new school. It seems like he is saying more and more words every day and understands a ton more than he is saying. I'm sure it will all come in time. At his 18 month check up the doctor said it was absolutely nothing to worry about that he is only saying a few words.

It was a very busy summer and appears that it will be a very busy fall. Life is good and I wouldn't trade it for a thing. I'll be posting photos soon! And, I promise to try and do a better job of updating the blog.

Vacation Bible School

Adam had his first experience with Vacation Bible School last week. Our church was transformed into Crocodile Dock and we had a great time. I took the week off of work and volunteered to work at the preschool VBS. I have never been involved in a VBS so large. We had over 600 kids and over 300 volunteers. It was amazing. The preschool VBS was held in our south campus and the older kids were at the north campus.

We had such a great time and Adam loved it. His best buddy from preschool, Tyler, was in his group and they had a great time together. We had a great group of kids and volunteers. I think every summer I'll take a week off work to work on VBS. It was probably one of the best things I've done in a very long time......

Water Table!!

So...I'm finally to photos from the month of June. In fact, these are from June 1st. We decided to get a water table for the boys to play in....needless to say they love it! It has been great fun and they love to play outside in it. Andrew loves to pour the water all over him and Adam is just happy to play outside.

Zoo Atlanta

We finally made our first visit for the year to the Zoo. It is kind of sad when you have annual passes and you still can't find time to go to the zoo. The boys had a great time and we got to try out our new wagon. It was wonderful! Both boys got to ride and could see and it worked great. We both said we wished we had thought of it earlier.

We were able to see so many of the animals up close and personal. The giraffes were closer than I've ever seen them before. The pandas were also out and playing in their area. Adam loved seeing the reptile house....and it wasn't too bad. At least it was air conditioned!

Both boys sacked out on the way back home but it was a great Saturday outing....

These photos are all from the last week of May. I can't believe how big Andrew is getting and all the things he is doing. He is our monkey and is into everything all the time! Every time we turn around he is climbing on something, standing on a chair, pulling things off everything he can reach.....He is definitely going to be our child that we always have to keep an eye on. He is pretty much always happy but he's also almost always into something! :-)

Adam's End of Year School Picnic

Adam's end of the year school picnic at Due West was pretty sad.....he won't be back there next year as he'll be attending a Pre-K program here. A couple of his buddies from Due West will be at the same school for Pre-K as well, so it wasn't too bad.

We had a great time at the picnic. The kids all got bug catcher kits from their teacher's and they had the best time playing with them in the field. We had pizza and cupcakes and cookie cakes and the kids were all on a sugar high. It was lots of fun, but a pretty hot day for May. We had a great time and are so fortunate that Adam has loved Due West so much. It is so wonderful that he loves our church so much. Anytime he hears us talking about church, he wants to go too! Andrew's End of Year School Picnic

So another year of Due West Preschool is over.....ok, so it has been over for more than a month now. I'm really behind in updating. Andrew had such a great year and totally loves Ms. Kelli! We love her too! Adam had her his first year at Due West.

Unfortunately, the day of their picnic, it rained, so we played inside. Andrew loves Due West and we are so glad!

New Roof!

Thanks to some wind damage a few weeks ago and courtesy of our home owner's insurance, we now have a new roof. They spent most of the day on Saturday getting it on and we are very glad very a very good and quick job. I've posted some of the photos of the damage and the new roof.....

Bowling and Mexican Food

Last weekend, we decided to take Adam bowling since it was pouring down rain. Little did we know it would be cosmic bowling and that bowling had gotten so expensive! Oh well! We had a great time and I'm glad we only paid for 1/2 an hour. Adam was done and ready to play video games after about 15 mintues. We had to convince him that he needed to bowl a bit longer.

And of course....no weekend is complete without a trip to LaParilla our favorite Mexican restaurant. On this visit the mariachi band was even playing Sweet Home Alabama by request (not from us). :-) I have to admit, it was a first for us to hear the song played by a mariachi band.

Bruster's Field Trip

Adam's class had a field trip to Bruster's and Ken helped drive the kids. The Bruster's is probably only 1/2 a mile or a mile from the church, but they still had parent's help drive the kids. The kids got to see ice cream being made and then got to sample some and then got their own regular size ice cream cone. They had a great time!

Adam's buddies Luke and Tyler rode with him to Bruster's. Ken even took some photos of all of them in the van. :-)

Mother's Day Tea - Due West UMC

One of my favorite programs at the preschool at Due West is the Mother's Day Tea and Art Show. The kids sing a few songs, have created all kinds of art projects and have a special lunch with mom. I love having the opportunity to do this each year. This year was a little hard because I knew it would be Adam's last program because it is his last year at the preschool at church. We love the preschool and wish he could always go there....but it is time for him to be in a Pre-K program. Technically, he could have stayed one more year at Due West, but we need childcare that lasts longer than 9am - 1pm each day.

Grandmother's 80th Birthday

So, on April 19th we took off for Alabama for my Grandmother's 80th birthday party. It was a really short trip, but we were really glad we could go. We don't always do a good job of going to visit our family when we should. Here's some photos from the day.

Easter Weekend

Slowly but surely I'm going to get caught up with my updates. We spent Easter weekend at home. Ken played in the orchestra for the 8:15 and 11:15 services. I worked children's church at 11:15am. The church was packed! I always love services on Easter, but to ensure a seat we got to church at 10:40 and I was only sitting through the first few minutes of the service.

We went to the Easter Egg hunt at our church (there were tons of eggs), dyed Easter eggs, made sugar cookies and decorated them and just had a great weekend at home.

My favorite quote of the weekend was Adam got up to see what the Easter bunny brought. He found the basket for him, Andrew and Dad, but asked "Mom, where is your basket?" I told him I guess Mom wasn't good enough. Adam told me "Next year, don't break the eggs when we're dyeing them and he'll bring you a basket too." :) Out of the mouths of babes! :-)

Palm Sunday Weekend

So far Palm Sunday weekend, we packed up and headed to Jasper, Alabama, to visit with my parents.

On Saturday while Ken was at a meeting in Tuscaloosa, we all went to ride Thomas the Train in Calera. We had a great time...but somehow I didn't get a single picture of Thomas! Oops! I'm not sure, but Adam's favorite part might have been eating pancakes afterwards at Cracker Barrel.

On Sunday, we went to church with Mom and Dad and then went to their church Easter egg hunt. It was misting rain and a messy day, but the boys had a great time. Both of them came away with plenty of eggs and candy. We had a great time and had a great weekend.

Due West UMC Preschool Easter Egg Hunt/Party

This was the first of three Easter Egg hunts for Adam. Needless to say, this year, he was an expert at hunting Easter Eggs. Of course, they really weren't hidden that hard for a four year old to find. I was able to take off work to participate in Adam's Easter Party the preschool. I helped hide eggs with Ms. Dreyer. It was so windy and everything was yellow with pollen, but the kids didn't care. They had a great time hunting eggs and every child left with 13 eggs. They were so cute and had I loved being able to be there.

And, since we are catching up...this was on April 3rd. :-)

Grant's Birthday Party

Adam had the best time at his friend Grant's birthday party. Grant had a Tumblebus party and Adam loves Tumblebus. He loves it so much that he has done Tumblebus at Primrose and at Due West - so twice in one week.

Grant's party was at the end of March so we're playing catch up for a while.... :-)

We've Got Some Catching Up To Do

Wow....once again it has been over a month since I've updated the blog. I guess that tells you a little about how our life has been lately. I would love to say everything has been calm and that we're just in our normal routine, but that just hasn't been the case.

Let's see in April we celebrated Palm Sunday in Jasper, Easter was wonderful at home, a dear friend's wedding the weekend after Easter (where we did the programs for the wedding and I played the piano for the ceremony), my Grandmother Warren's 80th birthday party, roof damage from a storm and Ken was officially laid off from IBM. Wow - what a month. It was filled with lots of ups and downs.

We have Adam enrolled in one of the Georgia Pre-K programs and finally made it off the "waiting list." We weren't sure if we'd make it or not. It will mean a change of school for him and we'll move Andrew as well. They'll be at a private school that offers the Georgia Pre-K program and other daycare options as well. However, we took Adam to his new school the other night and he's been asking about it almost every other day since. Some of his friends from church will be there as well, so we feel really fortunate.

I'll be catching up photos over the next few days. I can't believe how much the boys are growing and how well they are doing. We are loving life even with all of its challenges. We know God is in control of all of this and that we just have to patiently wait to see what He has in store for us.

First Haircut

We finally took Andrew for his first haircut. He and Adam went for haircuts this morning at Pigtails and Crewcuts. They do such a great job and the boys both did a great job. Andrew sat perfectly in the fire engine. I can't believe it is already time for a first haircut....every day it is just a little bit harder to imagine how much he is growing up.

Pigeon Forge

Last weekend we had the best time! We spent the weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN with our friends the Fannings. I've known Susan since high school and we've stayed in touch all these years. They had rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge invited us to join them. We had a wonderful time and all the kids got along well and we're already planning another trip before too long.
Adam has already been asking when he'll get to see Landon and Lydia again. :) He loves having someone to play with.

Our Little Monkey

I changed the background of the blog to monkeys a week or so ago for a very good reason. We have a major little monkey around our house. Andrew is climbing on everything all the time. It amazes me what a climber he is because Adam never climbed like this. We have to watch him all the time to make sure he's not climbing on tables, chairs, etc.

My Birthday

I guess it had to happen and I had to have another birthday. It certainly beats the alternative! :) So this year my birthday was on Friday, the 13th. I decided with those odds, I had to take the day off work. It was a wonderful, lazy day. In my opinion, the very best kind! Ken did get one of my favorite cakes from Publix with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing. Yum!! My boys made this the best birthday yet!

For Adam's birthday, he got $20 cash from Grammie and Grandpa. He was so excited because we told him he could take the money to Target and buy whatever he wanted. He must have looked at every toy aisle. We're trying really hard to teach Adam about money and what things cost so for him to have $20 to spend was really exciting for him.

So after much debate, he decided on cars. I'm sure you're not suprised. Not just one car - but several cars! In fact, several packs of cars.

I can't believe Adam is 4 years old. I don't know where the time went. Sometimes I look at him and I can't believe he is my little boy. I know that it is part of growing up and that it happens with everyone, but wow. We celebrated his birthday for almost a week....at least it seems that way. :)

On February 28th we had a party at Chuck E. Cheese with all of his friends from church. He had been begging for months to have a party at Chuck E. Cheese. This happened to be the weekend that it was pouring rain, so when we arrived for our 10:00am party it wasn't too bad. But, by 11:00am, the place was packed. There was not a single table avaialble in the entire restaurant. By 12:00, we were in the van headed for home. It certainly is nice to be able to go somewhere, walk in with a cake and have them do all the rest of the work, but what is even better, they do all of the clean up! :)

On Adam's actual birthday, March 4th, we took a cookie cake to school, which we had to bring back home. It had been processed in a facility with nuts...oops! We took back safe cupcakes. He got a few more presents and we went to his favorite restaurant for dinner - La Parilla. They sang to him and had him wear a sombrero. It was too cute.

On March 5th, he took Wall-E cupcakes to church to celebrate. By this time, we were just about birthday celebrated out. We were - Adam wasn't! He would celebrate every day if you'd let him. Enjoy the photos!

February was a Blur

February was such a blur.....I hardly remember it. In fact, was it really only a month ago? On January 31st, Andrew took his first 3 steps. February just picked up with more walking and falling. We celebrated Valentine's Day and went to Adam's class party at Primrose. Even though he doesn't usually go to Primrose on Friday's we took him on Friday the 13th for his party.

We made the very tough decision that Adam will only go to Primrose this fall. We've loved his time at the church and love that he loves our church so much. He'll go to Primrose full time and be in their Pre-K 4 year old class. He has so many good friends there and really does seem to love it there as well. We've been so lucky to have the kids in such great schools.

My job has continued to be really busy. I guess that's a good thing. We'll be watching President Obama's budget recommendations to see how that will impact my job. I hope that it won't, but if it passes to make all student loans through the direct loan program, I may be on the job market in the next year or two.

We also started the Financial Peace University at our church. This is Dave Ramsey's class. It is so good. We're in week 4 now and it has been a great experience. We have a few more weeks to go and are looking forward to the remainder of the class.

I still can't believe Andrew is 1 year old....we finally went this weekend and had his 1 year old photos made. We were only a week late. We absolutely love Portrait Innovations. They do such a great job and we had such a hard time picking out photos to purchase. Luckily, they give you all the shots on a CD so I can share a lot more on here than we actually purchased. Andrew decided to be quite the little superstar for his photo shoot.

Andrew's First Birthday

Andrew's first birthday was January 25th. I can't believe he is already one year old. I'm not sure were the year has gone....it seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.

We celebrated the day at my parent's house and invited all of the family to join us on Saturday, January 24th. We were so glad that Great Uncle Allen, Great Aunt Kathy, Great Uncle Neil, Great Aunt Margo, Cousin Abbey and Cousin Grayson game to help us celebrate the day. There is just something about sharing birthdays with family.

Andrew's First Day at Primrose

We finally took the plunge and enrolled Andrew at Primrose. We love Primrose and they have done such a great job with Adam. Andrew's first day was 1/20 and he really seems to enjoy going to school. I think Adam enjoys his brother being at school with him as well (although I don't think we would admit it).

Sleeping Boys

So I had to post these photos. A lot of you know about our dilemma with driving, Adam is a fantastic sleeper in the car, Andrew - not so much. He has gotten a little better as he has gotten older, but he still cries a good bit when we are in the car for more than 30 minutes.

After we landed in Atlanta from our trip to Texas and finally got in the van, we had barely left the airport when this is what we saw.....

San Antonio

While we were in Texas we went to San Antonio to spend some time with our friends, the Flummers. They were great hosts and the boys loved playing together. In fact, we're at the hotel tonight to go home and Adam wanted to go and play with Jackson some more. :) We are looking forward to their trip through Atlanta this summer.

Here's some photos from our couple of days in San Antonio (some were made today), so I think I'm about caught up on blogging now. We went to the Witte Museum, the River Walk and the Alamo while we were in San Antonio. We had a great time and look forward to coming back sometime to spend a few more days exploring Texas.

First Flight....

I had to take a trip to Austin, TX for a meeting at work. In the process of looking at flights, I discovered it was much cheaper to fly to San Antonio and drive to Austin. So, since we have some friends in San Antonio, we decided to all come. This was Andrew's first flight and he did great! (I hope he'll do as well on the flight home tomorrow) Adam had flown a couple of years ago, but he doesn't remember that.

Andrew's Favorite New Toy

Andrew got a wonderful new toy for Christmas from his Great Uncle Neil and Great Aunt Margo. I had never seen one of these before....it's not like the typical stacking toy. It actually spins and plays music. I believe it is made by Lamaze. He loves it! Even if he isn't stacking it, he loves hearing the music.

So thank you very much Uncle Neil and Aunt Margo. We love it!!

Adam's Shopping Trip

For Christmas, Great Grandmother Warren sent Adam $20. Usually when Adam gets money, it goes in his savings account. But this time, we decided to let him take the money and go shopping. So we all loaded up and to Toys 'R Us we went. We had a lot of time and Adam was quite a good shopper.

Adam actually paying for his purchase. He asked us several times if he had enough money. He actually bought the train, a car and of course, some M&M's and even had a couple of dollars left over. He was a smart shopper!

Day after Christmas

So the day after Christmas we needed to do something to burn some energy....at least Adam needed to burn some energy. One of Adam's favorite places to go is to Chuck E Cheese so after some lunch we were about done playing. I looked around to find my dad with Andrew on the wave runner ride.....I know they rode it 2 or 3 times and Andrew loved it! Oh well...I guess we are just starting him early.

Christmas

Christmas was so much fun with the boys..... Of course Andrew was up at 7am ready to go. He certainly is not our late sleeper. So, when he started trying to tear into presents, we went to wake up Adam and Ken. :) We were all up early. Andrew had as much fun playing with the wrapping paper as he did the actual presents.

Adam loved his new racetrack and was so excited when Grammie and Grandpa got here. They came over Christmas morning and it was like Santa arrived all over again. We had a great day and then had cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday to Jesus." Adam lead the whole song and he was so much fun.

They are at such a great age and we are having so much fun....

Andrew is getting to be such a big boy. He loves his bath time now that we finally took him out of the toddler tub. He had definitely outgrown it.

And who knew, now he has decided he likes the jumpy horse. We were about ready to try and sell it because he had only used it once, but decided to give it one more chance. He loves jumping in it!

It won't be long now....just a couple of weeks until he has 1 year old. This year has flown by.....

Due West UMC Preschool Christmas Party

I'm very behind in updating from the holidays....so I'm going to try and do a little catching up. Adam had his Christmas party at school on December 19th. I took the day off so I could go with him. He was ready to go when he got up that morning. He was so much fun this year and so excited about all things Christmas. We had an Advent Calendar that he was thrilled to open up each morning and count down the days to Christmas.

What a week....

Wow, what a week it has been....On Tuesday we took Andrew to the doctor because they sent him home from preschool on Monday. He had a double ear infection and an eye infection. He got two shots on Tuesday and had to go back on Wednesday for a recheck. He's been on antibiotics all week and still has a few more days to go.

We decided we might better take Adam to the doctor as well. So he went on Tuesday afternoon and he has bronchitis. Ugh!

By Wednesday afternoon, I was feeling crummy so I stopped by urgent care on my way home from work. I have a sinus infection. So, I brought home antibiotics as well. So all three of us are on antibiotics. Ken so far is avoiding the doctor, but he may need to go as well......

Other than the sickness that has infiltrated our household, it hasn't been too bad of a week! :)

SEC Championship Game

We were lucky enough to see Alabama play Clemson in the Georgia Dome this year, so it was only fitting that we go back to see them play Florida in the SEC Championship game. While the result wasn't exactly what we had hoped for, Alabama played a great game and I couldn't have been prouder to be there yelling "Roll Tide" with all my might. I have loved being able to go to the games this year and be a part of this story book season. With 9 seniors, Alabama wasn't picked to do very well - in fact, in preseason we were told we'd be lucky to win half of our games. I guess someone forgot to tell the team that. No one predicted Saban to turn the program around this quickly and I hope that we are back on track to having a successful team each year. We may not always beat Auburn and we may not always make the SEC Championship, but we can play well and show up to every game and play with heart. I think this year's team has displayed what you hope to see in a college football player.

I do have to say Congratulations to the Florida Gators. They played a great game and I hope they represent the SEC well in the Championship game.

So, Alabama gets to go to the Sugar Bowl now....and I've never been to New Orleans. It might be a first time for me...or we may watch from home. No matter what - we'll continue to say Roll Tide and job well done!

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa is an annual tradition at Due West UMC. This was our fourth year being there. We have pictures each year of Adam with Santa, and now with Andrew as well. I love that we have photos of Andrew staring so intently at Santa, just like Adam did on his very first visit with Santa. We had Adam's favorite meal for breakfast - pancakes. We hear about pancakes all the time now! :) So this week, we had three different trips with Santa - one at the mall, one on North Pole Limited and then Breakfast with Santa. I think Adam thinks we're supposed to see Santa several times a week! He is so looking forward to Christmas - now if he'd only leave the ornaments on our Christmas tree rather than thinking they were toys to play with everything would be great.

North Pole Limited

On Thursday, we took the boys to ride the North Pole Limited in Chattanooga, TN. This train ride is set up like the Polar Express and we had such a great time! It is kind of funny that we can get to Chattanooga faster than we can to Atlanta sometimes. The ride lasted about 75 minutes, and they gave out cookies and read The Polar Express. Then, of course, Santa made an appearance. Adam had such a great time! He's been asking when we'll get a train to go around our Christmas tree and been watching the Polar Express movie since we got home. This just might be our new annual family Christmas tradition.

First trip to see Santa

Alabama vs. Auburn

On Friday, November 29th I went to my first Alabama vs. Auburn game. While we've had season tickets for a few years now, we sold our tickets the last time the game was in Tuscaloosa. I finally got to experience the game.....Ken told me I would feel "it" when we got to the stadium and I wasn't really sure what "it" was and now I'm not even sure how to explan it. There was an electricity in the air like I can't explain. Maybe it was because Alabama was 11-0 going into the game and maybe it was because it was an Alabama vs. Auburn game, but whatever the reason, it was a great football day. There was a haze over the stadium and a fine mist for most of the game. Bama played great and finally broke the six year streak....we had a great time and were there to see Alabama go to 12-0! Roll Tide!!

Fantasy in Lights

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we decided to visit Fantasy in Lights. It has almost become a tradition with us that we go each year to Callaway Gardens. We love the fact that we can keep the kids in the van and drive through the lights. We didn't have advance tickets, but decided to go anyway. We didn't have to wait too long.....but the thing we always forget is how long the drive is to Callaway. For some reason, we always think it is only an hour away....when it tends to more like an hour and a half. Adam loved it and always loves seeign the lights! Andrew slept through the entire thing....that's typical! We love the Christmas season and never pass up an opportunity to experience it through the eyes of the child....

Thanksgiving

I feel so fortunate to live in the United States where we actually take a day out to stop and celebrate the things we are thankful for. In a time where we are so busy with so many things, it only seems fitting to take at least one day to stop and celebrate all the blessings God has given us. We've started talking about what we are thankful for each night with Adam. Sometimes he is thankful for bananas or his stuffed cow and some days it is his teachers and his friends at school. So on this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful for:

Our Church - it's a place we love to be and celebrate all that God has provided;
Ken - he is a wonderful father to the boys, I couldn't ask for anything more, and he's a pretty good husband to me;
My parents - for so many things they have provided to me over the years and now for the love they show my boys;
Adam and Andrew - they teach me something each and every day. It is so easy to enjoy life when you watch things happen through the eyes of a child;
My job - while some days it is filled with stress, I love the fact that I help people in Georgia know that they can attend college and we can help them afford it;
Family and friends - our lives are made so much better by the people that are in it.

So, I hope you pause today and thank God for all that he has given to you. Sometimes it seems difficult to find things to be thankful for, but at the end of the day, we have been given so much to be thankful for. It is hard to limit it to just a small list on a blog.

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

I have to start off by saying, that we love our preschool. Our church does such a great job and the boys just love it. Last week was the Thanksgiving feast at school and it is always a great program. Each of the classes sing and then we all travel to the Family Life Center for a Thanksgiving lunch. Adam's class was so cute! They were dressed as indians and it was precious. The photos just don't do the program justice but hopefully we'll have the video clips before too long to share.

Alabama vs. Mississippi State

It was soooo cold! And we were so worried when the game started - Bama didn't look very good that first half. But, they finally started to play and it was a great game. Thanks go to Grammie and Grandpa for watching the kiddies so we could actually go to the game. It was a fun night out, even if it was very cold!

Halloween

We had a great Halloween. I was off work so I was able to spend the entire day with the boys. We took Adam to preschool at the church and then I went over for their party. He had a great time. In the afternoon we took Adam back over to Primrose for their party and costume parade. Andrew even joined in on the action. Then Friday night, Adam went to the Trunk or Treat at the church up the road and then trick or treating around the neighborhood. It was a great night!

So here is Andrew in his big boy car seat....and he loves the view now. He was 9 months old last weekend (October 25th). I can't believe 9 months have already passed and am not sure where the time has gone.

He had his 9 month check up on Tuesday. He weighed in at 20lbs 2 oz and was 29.25 inches long. Wow! He is a tall little boy. And yes, I know, he really should still be rear facing in his car seat...but the constant screaming in the van won out and now he can see everyone else.

Trevor's Birthday Party

Last weekend, Adam got invited to Trevor's birthday party. It was a costume party so he got to wear his Halloween costume a week early. He loved his Lightning McQueen pit crew outfit and that it had lights and sounds. Adam could not make up his mind of what he wanted to be for Halloween so I just picked something out. Luckily, he liked it.

Ken took Adam to the party and Adam loved Trevor's scooter. You'll see quite a few photos of Adam riding it.

Pumpkin Patch

Every year our youth group has a pumpkin patch as a fundraiser. We go every year to buy our pumpkins and take pictures. The boys had a great time at the pumpkin patch. Adam always wants to bring home lots of pumpkins. This year I think we brought 4 home. It's so fun to have photos from every year at the pumpkin patch...this is year number 4 and now we have two boys. Things have changed a lot!

Adventures with Timmy

Adam's preschool teacher has a stuffed animal named Timmy. Each week a different child brings Timmy home and photographs him on their adventures. The parents put together photos telling about their adventures and send them back into the class. At the end of the year, Ms. Moskal has a book of Timmy's adventures.

We had Timmy the second week of October and we decided to take him to the Georgia National Fair in Perry, GA. It worked out well because my company had a booth there and I needed go to check on it and work for a while. Adam had never been to the fair so we thought it would be a fun adventure. Adam had a great time and Andrew just watched everything! We'll definitely take another trip to the fair next year.

Our Little Soccer Star

Andrew seems to enjoy the soccer ball a lot more than Adam! Maybe he will be the one that is the soccer star. These photos are from the end of September. :-) I'll get caught up eventually!
